The Hills are Alive in SALZBURG!

Around the Old City

The stairs outside the Salzburg Festival House used by the von Trapps to escape (only in the movie, mind you...)

The nicest McDonald's sign I've ever seen - and you know we've been to a few:)

And they give you free stickers and crayons at this one!

On the funicular heading up to the 900-year-old Hohensalzburg Fortress

Kate and Steve, engrossed in the audio tour of the Hohensalzburg

The story of the bull!

In the marionette museum on the fortress grounds

View of the cathedral from the fortress

Kissing angels in the Cathedral

In the Mirabell Palace Gardens
(the "Doh a Dear" sequence from Sound of Music was filmed here, by the way!)

See? I really was there:)

Kate and Daddy enjoy a hot cocoa after Mass in the foyer of our hotel in the Altstadt (Old City)

The lovely dining room in our hotel

Cathedral bells, Sunday morning

And finally, a funny story:

When we arrived at the hotel, Kate sat on the bed for several minutes, appearing to study the map of Salzburg. She started shaking her head in consternation and said:

"Ohhhh no. Ohh no. Ohhhhh no... (giant pause, then her face brightened)... No, no, wait - it's okay. Salzburg IS on this map. It's the little green part right here"
