Our Armchair Voyage to Ancient Rome and Greece

For the winter break, we decided to take a "trip" from our cozy house to Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece and had a fabulous time exploring some sights, tastes, and history!

 Making our tunics and togas

Kate read that Roman  children sometimes kept pet monkeys

Here is Kate's sketch of the Pantheon

 Steve's columns

We used GaGa's Art History book to help us to design our block temples

And here is the temple we made with toilet paper rolls! Steve did the battle scene on the pediment and Kate drew a domestic scene on the frieze.

Here is little Steve's plan for a Roman Aqueduct

And here is the working aqueduct!

Making homemade pasta

The kids were fascinated by Roman numerals and got a kick out of doing math using them!

Mosaics!

Toga Yoga?

We spent one day learning how to make bread

A delicious week!
