Bratislava, Slovakia

Last weekend, we headed by train to Bratislavia, in Slovakia, just 45 minutes from Vienna. We spent one night and had a wonderful time touring the town. Steve's mom's family hails from Slovakia, so this trip had special significance. We were especially excited to find a plaque commemorating the priest, Father Jozef Murgas, who was responsible for building the Church of the Sacred Heart, in which Steve's grandparents and parents were married, and in which Steve grew up. His mom was baptized there, as was Steve and his sister, and most recently our niece Macy. Father Murgas painted many of the works in the church and had a pivotal role in helping Slovak immigrants adapt to life in the States, in addition to being influential in the creation of the state of Czechoslovakia. Not to mention his impressive work in radiotelegraphy (Marconi stole it all...). Take a moment to Wiki him - what an inspiring man.

And then, a lovely and very peaceful boat ride down the Danube and back to Vienna!

Awwww, yeahhhh.

On our little train ride around town

And from "News of the Weird" ...video at the bottom

He walks! Down the street! Without pulling away and tearing off! Miracles do happen.

And I couldn't help but take this - just the cutest twin girls

And just so you know...you can buy the CD. One for 8 Euros, 3 for 20.
